What a deposit policy should say
- How much: a share of the price or a fixed amount, enough to cover the drawing and the slot.
- What it is for: it holds the date and is taken off the final price.
- When it is kept: a cancellation late or a no-show.
- How to reschedule: until when a new date is possible without losing it, and how many times.
- What happens if you cancel: the deposit is refunded, or moved to a new date the client accepts.

Frequently asked questions
How much should a tattoo deposit be?
Enough to cover the drawing and the slot you hold. Many studios ask a share of the price, often 20 to 30 %, or a fixed amount for flash.
Are tattoo deposits refundable?
That is what your policy decides, within your local law. Most studios keep it for a late cancellation or a no-show, and refund it when the studio cancels.
